David Z. Morris is a journalist, author, and historian of technology.
David was one of the first mainstream journalists to write about cryptocurrency, first covering Bitcoin for Fortune Magazine in 2013. He is a former staff writer for Fortune, Breaker Magazine, and CoinDesk, where he served as Chief Insights Columnist and was part of the newsroom team that exposed and brought down Sam Bankman-Fried. His work has also appeared in the Atlantic, Slate, Aeon, the Japan Times, and other outlets.
Prior to his career in journalism, David earned a PhD in the history of communication technology at the University of Iowa. He has taught communication theory and practice at Iowa, the University of South Florida, and Tokyo University of Fine Arts (Geidai). His academic research has appeared in journals including Critical Studies in Media Communication.
